From alpine heights to coastal delights

On Easter Saturday, we swapped mountain peaks for a sea breeze, our mid-season jackets for sunglasses, and headed straight for the coast – to Pomol okusov (Pear of delights) in Izola, which kicked off its season on that very day.

Pomol okusov is that magical little spot where Istrian cuisine embraces the sea, the sun tickles your taste buds, and every food stall makes you say, “Mmm… what’s that delicious smell?” Set in the idyllic surroundings of the Izola pier, local chefs and winemakers delighted curious and enthusiastic visitors with authentic culinary experiences. This time, we were honoured to join the rich selection of Istrian food and drink as special guests at our own little stall – bringing a touch of the mountains to the seaside.

Our stall was dressed in festive spring flavours that could be smelled from afar. 🌸
We served a true Easter classic that never fails to impress – baked ham in dough with horseradish sauce. In honour of the king of the spring forest, we cooked up a hearty barley risotto with wild garlic and ham, and to top it all off, we offered a refreshing forest-inspired twist for sunny coastal weather – our signature spruce spritz.

Visitors curiously sampled our dishes, smiled in delight, and finally admitted – our plates really do pair well with that fresh sea air!

It was truly an honour to be invited as guests to such an authentic, locally flavoured event, where you can genuinely feel the heart of Istria beating in every bite. We’re proud to have been part of this celebration of taste and spirit – and to prove that even we "mountain folks" know how to whip up seaside-inspired delights worth drooling over.

Pomol okusov will keep delighting all summer long, and we truly hope to be invited again – because with company like this and views like that, cooking becomes an even greater joy!
