Kranjska Gora Town Acquired New Defibrillator on World Healt Day

Kranjska Gora, 6. april 2023

The tourism company Hit Alpinea and the AED Society for Cardiovascular Disease have joined forces to provide a new automated external defibrillator (AED). This will be available to all citizens and visitors in front of the Josip Vandot elementary school in Kranjska Gora. In order to improve accessibility and raise awareness of the use of resuscitation equipment, appropriate training courses will also be organized in the coming weeks.

The motto of this year's World Health Day is "Health for All". We have therefore decided to hand over a new AED as part of the events. Representatives of Hit Alpinea and the AED Society handed it over to the Josip Vandot Primary School in Kranjska Gora at today's ceremony. This expands the network of permanently installed and accessible defibrillators for rapid resuscitation in the event of sudden cardiac arrest in the municipality of Kranjska Gora. This is possible thanks to the AED Society, which, together with our presence at the peak of the winter season on the winter beach behind the Ramada Resort, successfully carried out an awareness campaign on the importance of resuscitation and the use of defibrillators. The AED Society, a non-governmental organization in the public interest, received sufficient funds from taxpayers' money to purchase a new defibrillator.

"The AED Society has decided to hand over the defibrillator to Hit Alpinea as a sign of good cooperation. Our units are already equipped with them and our employees are also trained in first aid, including basic resuscitation. We therefore decided to find the most suitable location for the defibrillator. We are convinced that this action will undoubtedly make Hit Alpinea even more integrated into the environment in which it operates," explains Milan Sajovic, Director of Hit Alpinea.

The time window for successful resuscitation is extremely limited, so it is important that the defibrillator is placed in an easily accessible location where it can be reached quickly and easily. The accessibility of defibrillators and the knowledge of how to use them are crucial, because every second counts in the event of a cardiac arrest. That's why one of the things we try to do at the EAD Society is to raise awareness of the importance of using defibrillators and making them available.

At the handover of the defibrillator, students from the Josip Vandot elementary school in Kranjska Gora also presented themselves with short musical performances. "Our school is one purchase richer. Quick intervention and the use of a defibrillator in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest are of central importance, and our students know this too. We would like to thank Hit Alpinea for choosing our school as the location for the new AED, making it easier for all of us, but also for our neighbors and users of the school grounds outside of school hours, to reach it if necessary," said Milan Rogelj, M.A., Director of Kranjska Gora Primary School, after the ceremony.
