Pony, Retro Spirit and the Vršič Hill

On the first Saturday of June, we will witness the extraordinary and somewhat extreme Goni Pony event for the tenth time. The Red Bull event is celebrating a milestone anniversary. Goni Pony has become a true icon among cycling events: Every year cycling enthusiasts meet on the legendary Pony bikes without gears and create an unforgettable experience together while climbing the highest Slovenian pass, Vršič.

We will be there again this year, providing refreshments at the starting point. The starting point is located below the ski slope in the event area between our Hotel Kompas and the Hotel Ramada Resort (ex Larix), where we will ensure that both the participants and their entourage and fans are provided with refreshments before the start of the cycling adventure. This way, everyone is sure to be full of energy and in a good mood.

The goal of the competition is the top of the aforementioned Vršič Pass. Cyclists have to contend with numerous headwinds. The current record for the 13.5 km route is 39 minutes and 39 seconds. The Red Bull Goni Pony is no ordinary cycling competition, but a competition with style. With a style that was popular during the production of Horned Ponies from the mid-60s to the mid-80s.

We are proud to be part of such a unique event that promotes active leisure and brings together people of different generations. Goni Pony is not only a competition, but also a social event where friends meet, share experiences and create new memories. The atmosphere is always full of joy and fun as participants try to complete the route with a smile and a genuine passion for cycling.
