The Story of Coffee

Visiting mountains is a popular Slovenian leisure activity. And so is socialising over coffee.

In a small village at the foot of the Julian Alps, we have designed something special, something no one would expect here. Where the mountain paths cross the paths of Vandot's fairy tales, an interesting idea was born. And when it bloomed, it smelled like coffee. The fresh air of the beautiful Kranjska Gora was enriched by the smell of very special coffee. This is not a coffee like others, because our coffee carries the soul and features of our region. And its mark… actually, Our Mark carries another sign, a very unique and truly Slovenian sign, the one and only Knafelc marking. In our region, they mark more than ten thousand kilometres of safe mountain trails. That is about the same number of nautical kilometres coffee beans have to travel to reach us and, after a wild dance of roasting and blending, to finally become Our Mark.

Our coffee guides you as if you were following the hiking markings that mark the right path. It takes you on a magical journey from the first sip. In the morning, it is a true guide through the sleepy haze. During the day, it takes us on a unique adventure full of flavour and life.

Just as Vandot's hero, Kekec, is committed to his values, so are we – in many ways, our coffee is very similar to these values. She is lively, full of energy, here at home, and – like Kekec – always on the side of justice with Fair Trade principles.

Our Mark coffee is definitely more than just a beverage. It's like that special sign that reminds you that you too are on the right path and that you are in the right place, where the beauty of our nature, honest people and of course the most important thing – delicious coffee – come together. And the next time you talk to your family, friends, or neighbours over a cup of our coffee, you will see that this coffee is also one of the markings in your heart that brings you back to Kranjska Gora again and again.
